Friendly answers about the team

Baker Transport Team: FAQs

Who Will I Speak to When I Call?

One of our traffic operators or administration team, the same people who book and plan your containers. The person you speak to can see your jobs and knows the ports involved.

Real answers follow, rather than a promise to call back. The Baker Transport team is kept small on purpose, so customers get to know familiar voices.

Reliable cover is built in. If your usual contact is out, a colleague can pick up the job straight away, because everyone works from the same live traffic sheet. With 24/7 support, there is always someone to help. As a result, you rarely need to explain a job twice.

How Experienced Is the Team?

Very. Karl Baker spent over 20 years in haulage, after 10 years teaching logistics law and business practice. Kevin has over 20 years in transport, including a decade as a transport manager, and Will has worked in container haulage since 2016.

Wide experience across shipping lines, freight forwarders and traders means the team also understands the pressure on your side of the job.

Calm handling shows on difficult days: a held box, a moved slot or a late vessel is dealt with clearly, with updates and a plan. As a result, customers get answers from people who have seen the same problem before.

When Was Baker Transport Founded?

Karl Baker founded the business in 2023. He had previously spent more than 20 years in the haulage industry. Then he decided it was time to build a team that he and his customers could rely on.

Careful growth followed, adding partners who also share the same values of professionalism, transparency and friendly service.

Wide coverage is the result: container haulage from Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway, Tilbury and Liverpool, with the same friendly traffic desk handling every job. Growth has never been allowed to weaken the service. Since then, the team has grown, but the friendly way of working has not changed.

Do You Use Subcontractors?

Yes, carefully. Alongside our own trucks, we work with vetted partner hauliers who share our values. That gives customers extra capacity at busy times and wider coverage across the UK.

Safe, legal work is checked first: every partner shows licences, insurance and port passes before they start.

Consistent contact stays with our team for the booking, updates and any questions, whoever drives the truck. Hauliers interested in regular container work can read what we provide on our subcontractor page. As a result, you get extra capacity without losing the personal service. In addition, partners who join us tend to stay, which keeps the service consistent for you.

Is Baker Transport a Member of a Trade Association?

Yes. Baker Transport is a member of the Road Haulage Association, the trade body for UK road hauliers. Membership keeps us connected to industry guidance on safety, compliance and good practice.

Open terms reflect how we work: properly licensed, properly insured and clear about our Conditions of Carriage, which are published on this website.

Helpful explanations are available too. If you have questions about insurance or liability for a particular load, our team will talk you through them before you book. Above all, you know exactly where you stand before your container moves. In addition, we can share proof of insurance on request.

How Do I Get a Quote from the Team?

Send us the details of your container by email, phone or the form on our contact page. The most useful details are the port, container size and weight, the release status and the delivery postcode.

Clear prices come back from a member of the team, with any questions about your site, timed slots or special equipment.

New importers are welcome. If you are new to container deliveries, do not worry about getting every detail right first time. We will guide you through what we need and explain each step in plain English. In addition, regular customers can simply email their container details to our bookings inbox.
